King Alfred the Great was a very famous writer of the Old English Period. His title was The Law Governing. He was the king of England from 871 to 899. He compiled the Anglo Saxon Chronicle. The Anglo Saxon Chronicle is the first monument of English Prose. For this reason, we called him the Founder of English Prose.
