Rahim: Hi, Karim.
Karim: Hello, Rahim.
Rahim: How are you?
Karim: I am fine, thank you. And you?
Rahim: I am also fine. thank you too. What are you doing?
Karim: I am reading an article about the Television.
Rahim: Oh, very good.
Karim: Do you tell me something about Television?
Rahim: Yes, Of course. Television is one of greatest inventions of modern science. It is a boon to human civilization. It has become an inseparable part of modern life. The word television comes from the Latin word 'tele' and 'vision'. 'Tele' means distance and 'vision' means to see. So, the word television means seeing from distance.
Karim: Who is the inventor of Television?
Rahim: The invention of television has a long history. Paul Nepkov and Jhon Bayard invented television in 1925.
Karim: What are the uses of Television?
Rahim: Television is very useful in our daily life. It gives us news on national and international matters. It is a source of recreation. It gives us enjoy after a whole day's work. It removes our tiredness. It has a great educative value. We hear and enjoy debates, lectures, discussions, speeches etc. though television. It has broken the wall between the literate and the illiterate.
Karim: Oh, I see. Then?
Rahim: At present, we need not go to stadium to enjoy a game. We sit before television set and enjoy football, cricket, tennis and others games and sports. Television has made the world small.
Karim: Oh, I see.
Karim: Does it have any effects to the society?
Rahim: Every scientific invention has some abuses. Television is no exception. It has some abuses. It is doing a lot of harm to the teenagers. Young people are so much addicted to television. So their study is greatly hampered. Over watch of television makes eyesight weak and wastage of time.
Karim: So sad.
Rahim: Do you understand?
Karim: Yes, I have understand. Besides these negative aspects, computer has brought a great change in modern civilization. It is like Aladdin's lamp. We cannot go a single moment without Television. It is now a part and parcel of our daily life.
Rahim: You are right. Very good.
Karim: Thank you very much for your good information.
Rahim: You are most welcome.
