Summary:
Arcadia was a very calm and peaceful province of Greece. There lived a powerful duke. His name was Basilius. He ruled his people peacefully and happily. Suddenly, he became curious to know what the future of his wife Gynecia, and daughters Pamela and Philoclea. By counting fortunes he came to know that his eldest daughter Pamela would be stolen. His younger daughter would fall in love with an ineligible boy. And his wife Gynecia would be involved in fornication. For that reason, Basilius began to live in hiding in one corner of the kingdom. After some time, the duke retried. Then two princes Pyrocles and Musidorus came to Arcadia. By chance, they found and fell in love with the duke's two daughters.
