Poet Introduction:

William Shakespeare is the greatest poet and dramatist of the Elizabethan Age. He was undoubtedly a world-famous poet and dramatist. His contribution to English drama is unique. His contribution to sonnets is also unique. He was a versatile genius.

William Shakespeare's nickname was the Swan of Avon. He was born on April 23,1564 in the village of Stratford-on-Avon in the country of Warwickshire in England. His father's name is John Shakespeare. His father was a trader in leather and agricultural products. His mother's name is Mary Arden.

When he was seven years old, he went to the grammar school of his native village, Stratford. In that School, he learned Latin Grammar, Greek, logic, and rhetoric. He could not continue his studies due to financial problems. When he was 14 years old, his father fell into debt for losing his little property. For this reason, Shakespeare left school to give financial support to his family.

In his 19th year, he married Anne Hathaway. His wife was eight years older than him. After 6 months of his married life, his first daughter was born. He had three children, two daughters and a son. His big daughter's name was Susana. Hamnet was his son and Judith was his other daughter. They were twins. Unfortunately, his son Hamnet, only lived till he was eleven and died in 1596.

In 1585, Shakespeare left Stratford and went to London. In London, he got a job in a company of actors. Shakespeare first started his work in London as a general helper of the theatre. But soon he became an actor. He was closely associated with two theatres. These theatres were called "The Globe" and "The Blackfriars"

William Shakespeare wrote 37 plays, 154 sonnets, and six poems. On the total 37 plays, he wrote 25 plays before the death of Queen Elizabeth. He wrote 4 types of play. These are tragedy, comedy, tragi-comedy, and historical play. His play consists of five acts. He composed much of his plays in "iambic pentameter". His first play was probably "Love's Labour's Lost" ( 1590). And, his last play was "The Tempest" It is called Shakespeare's Swan song ( last work ). He was the innovator of Shakespearean Sonnet. His Sonnet style was three quatrains and a couplet ( 4 + 4 + 4 + 2 ). The rhyme scheme of his sonnet was abab, cdcd, efef, gg. Out of his total 6 poems, he wrote 2 long narrative poems and 4 shorter poems. Overall, The Merchant of Venice, All's Well That Ends Well, Measure for Measure, Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello, King Lear, Julius Caesar, Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It, Comedy of Errors, Twelfth Night, The Tempest were well-known creations of Shakespeare.

William Shakespeare was mainly the writer of sixteen centuries. He was the National poet of England. He is also known as King without a crown. He is the bird of Avon. Dr. Samuel Johnson said William Shakespeare was the poet of human nature. The greatest superstar of the world died in 1616.

Summary:

Antonio is a prominent merchant of Venice who is a wealthy, respected, and popular citizen. His dear friend's name is Bassanio. Bassanio borrowed money from Antonio. But he was not ready to pay. Meanwhile, Bassanio needed money again. But Antonio had no more money. His merchant ships are stuck in the sea, but he borrows money from Shylock, a wealthy Jewish merchant, at high interest to help Bassanio. Shylock gives Antonio a condition that if he (Antonio) fails to repay the loan on time, he (Shylock) will cut a pound of flesh from Antonio's body. Antony agreed to this condition because his merchant ships would return by then. On the other hand, Antonio Bassanio - his friend Lorenzo falls in love with Shylock's daughter Jessica. On the other hand, Persia and Basaniya fall in love. At this point, Antony fails to pay Shylock on time because his ships are wrecked at sea. Shylock demands a pound of flesh from Antonio's body as a condition. But a lawyer (originally Persian) said that the condition was only to take the flesh but not the blood. So blood should not fall. Thus Shylock was defeated in court.
